Compassion for Animals

I am a Dog lover and thus realised it's high time I get back to helping the strays in whatever way I can. I used to assist my sister in helping the strays and taking care of em. My expereince so far tells me that 'mongrels' are way more intelligent and smart in comparison to good breeds. This I can't vouch for though, as it is only a personal observation.

CUPA - Compassion Unlimited Plus Action an NGO founded by Crystal Rogers for animals in October, 1991. Since it's inception CUPA has grown to be the largest and most active animal welfare organization in Bangalore.

Activities of CUPA

Shelter
Large animal program
Animal Birth Control
Awareness Building

Foster parent an animal, provide newspapers, old clothes, etc and donate to CUPA.

The work done by CUPA is commendable. I would love to work as a volunteer with them and hence I've volunteered. Hope it comes through:-)...Finally somethin great to look forward to.

Dogs and Cats!!!

Are these animals cute and intelligent or what? I have heard of several stories on Animal Planet about how dogs help patients improve on various different health conditons. Dogs are loyal and cute. As they say DOGS are truly MAN'S BEST FRIEND!!! Cats are not just intelligent but very shrewd too.

They are apparently very unlike the other in their charecteristics - ABSOLUTE OPPOSITES!!!

Studying these most domesticated animals can be quite a pleasure and a great experience. Seeing them co-exist and live in harmony gives immense happiness to a dog/cat lover.

Read this: Cat becomes bus regular in Britain

How smart is that?

Look at them wrestle/play with each other!!!

Wonder how cats are different from dogs? View this video and you'll know :-)

Instead of domesticating these lovable creatures man wants to kill them just because of one odd incident. Figure out a way to deal with the problem of growing numbers of strays in a civilized manner, that is HUMAN. Killing them ruthlessly is not a SOLUTION. This is a cause for serious CONCERN!

Vaccinate them and if they need to be put to sleep do so only as a last resort and not by injecting chemicals and being inhuman.

Adopt them, love them and they will love you like no one else - atleast the dogs!!!

Bless the animals and may those who harm them die a death of misery!!!

Non-vegetarianism – Individual choice and cruelty to animals!!!

Survival of mankind – does it equate to ‘pet (stomach) pooja’?! All of us ‘live to eat’ or ‘eat to live’??? Why are us human’s sooooooooo insensitive? Do we need to kill another life to survive? Making your stomach a graveyard – does that feel good?

Well the counter question a non-vegetarian tends to pose – ‘Is it fine to kill plants?, Are they not living beings?’ Well the accepted argument is that ‘plants don't have a central nervous system like animals do, therefore no pain is felt’. There are different angles to this perspective too.

Not just cruelty to animals but do non-vegetarians realize that they are harming their health in the process? As per a study -
Intelligent children are more likely to become vegetarians later in life and vegetarianism has been linked to heart health.

Issues like: ‘Are veggie women four times better protected from breast-cancer than non-veggie counterparts?’ were addressed in the
Veg Food Expo that happened at Chennai this January.

It undoubtedly is an individual choice that has been debated on for generations and will continue…. but are we so heartless? Think about the environment, other living beings, try being empathetic and then take a call – fair enough??!!
