Lethargy, Procrastination and Me

Lethargy and Procrastination are words synonmn to me. Lethargy has set in big time, since the past few years. I sit around like a fat slob, complete couch potato and do no physical work/exercise. Absolutely no discipline, energy or spurthi as is said in Hindi and Sanskrit. No matter how much my folks yell, explain and try endlessly, I remain the same.:-(

In addition to this I procrastinate like no body's business. From the smallest to the biggest decisions in life, I put them off. Realization has set in but what I will do/not do to deal with Lethargy and Procrastination is something only time will tell!

Hi,
I suffer the same problems and feel basically the same way about everything. You are not alone.

I've decided to try to deal with my procrastination problem and have started implementing a few things that have helped some. I am always looking for help and take it day by day. Obviously, some days are better than others but I know that with determination, I will get a handle on my problem.

I just wanted you to know that there are others out there who are struggling with the same problem and you are not alone. Keep your chin up!!

go after ur passions..... some of them which you lost over time... rediscover them... then lethargy will vanish automatically...!!

people have addressed ur lethargy problem and I agree with nipun so let me talk abt ur procastination problem..

What is making you procastinate? are you scared something might go wrong? wat I have realised is that its better to make things clearer at the start rather than live in a dream world.. I hope that makes sense..

Procrastinate. This is one of my biggest problems too. I tend to push things off till the absolute last minute. I do eventually manage to get things done (barely), but in so much tension because of the time crunch. Every time, every single time, I curse myself for this and just chant "I wont do this next time...". But have I ever stopped? No!!

Lethargy...been there too. As in one of the previous comments, going after ones passion helps. If I know there is something I really want to do, I tend to be more active and try to get other stuff out of the way. But sometimes, nothing can get me to move myself :)

Well, Patanjali talks about Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas. Tamas (sloth) when exists in an unbalanced proportion in an individual (due to food, temperament, etc) then one tends to be lazy and lethargic. So one needs to balance out the Tamas by following appropriate food habits, activities, etc

Of course the bottom line is that one needs a passion or purpose to life else life seems meaningless and one becomes lazy....
